Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed HB89 into law a couple days ago. HB89 says that CCW license holders can carry concealed handguns on public transit. MARTA bus drivers had been complaining that if the law was signed, they would demand bullet proof glass because they were afraid they would be shot by law-abiding citizens. I bet this bus driver wished there was someone on his bus who was legally carrying a concealed weapon when this happened. Just a note, this was in Milwaukee, not Atlanta, but nevertheless, it illustrates the point.
Not only that, but in Atlanta news today, a man kidnapped a woman at gunpoint from a MARTA bus. As of July 1st, that woman will be allowed to protect herself on public transit.
